Overview
The Katsina State Health Services Management Board is inviting applications from qualified and dedicated individuals for the position of Nursing Officer III. The Role
The Nursing Officer III is responsible for delivering professional and ethical nursing care to patients. Working under the supervision of senior nursing staff, you will play a vital role in assessing patient needs, administering treatments, and ensuring a safe clinical environment. This role is ideal for registered nurses who are passionate about patient advocacy and clinical best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Patient Care: Provide essential nursing care to patients in assigned units, ensuring their comfort, safety, and hygiene.
- Clinical Intervention: Assess, plan, and implement nursing care interventions based on individual patient needs.
- Medication Administration: Accurately administer medications and treatments as prescribed by medical practitioners.
- Vitals & Monitoring: Regularly monitor and record patient vital signs, progress, and behavioral changes, reporting any concerns to the medical team.
- Procedural Support: Assist doctors and senior clinicians during medical examinations, diagnostic tests, and clinical procedures.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, timely, and up-to-date patient records and nursing charts.
- Infection Control: Strictly adhere to infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols to maintain a sterile and safe clinical environment.
- Patient Advocacy: Respond promptly to patient needs and emergencies; provide basic health education to patients and their families regarding care plans.
Requirements & Qualifications
Candidates for this GL. 06 position must possess:
- Academic/Professional: A Registered Nurse (RN) qualification from a recognized School of Nursing or tertiary institution.
- Licensing: Full registration and a valid Current Practicing License with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
- Technical Skills: Strong foundational knowledge of clinical nursing procedures and patient care techniques.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and teamwork abilities; ability to remain calm and efficient in emergency situations.
- Experience: Relevant clinical experience during internship or previous employment is an added advantage.
- Commitment: A high level of ethical conduct and a commitment to the nursing profession’s standards.
