Overview

​The Katsina State Health Services Management Board is seeking compassionate, highly skilled, and experienced Nursing Officers to join our clinical workforce. This Grade Level 10 position is designed for registered professionals who have demonstrated clinical excellence and are ready to take on senior responsibilities in patient care and ward supervision across our state hospitals.

The Role

​As a Nursing Officer I, you will be a cornerstone of our healthcare delivery team. You will provide expert direct patient care, coordinate nursing services, and serve as a mentor to junior nursing staff. We are looking for candidates who combine clinical precision with the empathy required to support patients and their families during their most vulnerable moments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advanced Patient Care: Provide comprehensive and direct nursing services to patients in various clinical settings (General Wards, A&E, ICU, etc.).
  • Clinical Management: Accurately administer medications, perform prescribed treatments, and manage complex nursing care plans.
  • Patient Monitoring: Diligently monitor vital signs and patient conditions, providing rapid response and escalation when necessary.
  • Health Education: Lead patient and family education sessions regarding disease management, post-discharge care, and general health promotion.
  • Supervision & Mentorship: Oversee the activities of junior nurses and interns to maintain high standards of nursing practice and hospital hygiene.
  • Documentation: Ensure all nursing records and patient charts are updated with accuracy and maintained in compliance with medical legal standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

​Candidates for this GL. 10 appointment must meet the following professional criteria:

  • Academic: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) from a recognized and accredited university.
  • Professional Registration: Full registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
  • Licensing: Possession of a valid and Current Practicing License.
  • National Service: Evidence of completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or a valid Certificate of Exemption.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in a recognized hospital or healthcare facility.
  • Core Competencies: Strong clinical assessment skills, ability to lead a team, and excellent interpersonal communication.
