Save the Children is inviting organizations and education technology experts to apply for a consultancy opportunity in Kaduna State, Nigeria. This consultancy is a core component of the Reaching Out-of-School Children (ROOSC) Project, which aims to improve access to quality education for children who are currently out of school. The selected consultant will design and develop a digital platform that supports teachers with professional training and development, ultimately improving the quality of teaching so more children can receive a better education. Why This Project Is Important Although Kaduna State has long been known as the “Centre of Learning,” the state still faces a significant challenge with a large number of children remaining out of school. Many children—especially girls, children with disabilities, and those affected by poverty or displacement—face severe barriers to accessing education. One major hurdle is the lack of continuous professional training opportunities for educators. This project addresses that gap by creating a reliable platform to help teachers enhance their skills and classroom effectiveness. Consultant Responsibilities The selected organization will collaborate with Save the Children and the Kaduna State Ministry of Education to develop a system that helps teachers learn modern teaching methods. The platform will support professional growth in areas such as: Teaching reading and mathematics Using inclusive teaching methods Effective lesson planning Classroom management Student learning assessment Note: The platform may be digital, offline, or a hybrid solution to ensure accessibility for teachers in areas with limited internet or electricity. Key Activities of the Consultancy Needs Assessment: Conduct research to identify specific challenges and training needs faced by teachers. Platform Development: Design a user-friendly teacher professional development solution tailored for Kaduna State. Pilot Testing: Implement the platform in selected schools or learning centres to evaluate performance and provide initial training to staff. Monitoring and Improvement: Collect and integrate feedback from teachers and schools. Sustainability Planning: Ensure the system is built for long-term operation and potential expansion.
