Overview
The Katsina State Health Services Management Board (KTHSMB) is seeking diligent and technically skilled X-Ray Technicians to join our radiology departments. This Grade Level 07 position is vital for providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services, ensuring that clinicians have the accurate radiographic data needed for effective patient treatment and diagnosis.
The Role
The X-Ray Technician is responsible for performing routine radiographic examinations. Working under the supervision of a Radiographer or Medical Officer, you will operate X-ray equipment, prepare patients for procedures, and ensure strict compliance with radiation safety protocols. We are looking for individuals who combine technical precision with a compassionate approach to patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Imaging Procedures: Conduct routine X-ray imaging procedures as directed by clinical requisitions, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images.
- Patient Preparation: Professionally prepare and position patients for radiographic examinations, ensuring their comfort and optimal alignment for imaging.
- Equipment Operation: Expertly operate X-ray machines and related diagnostic imaging equipment, ensuring all safety checks are performed.
- Radiation Safety: Ensure strict adherence to radiation protection guidelines and safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and the general public.
- Image Processing: Assist in the processing, developing, and initial review of radiographic images for clarity and diagnostic value.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records and comprehensive imaging documentation in both physical and digital formats.
- Maintenance & Safety: Report any equipment faults promptly and assist with basic routine maintenance of radiology hardware; ensure the cleanliness and organization of imaging rooms.
- Clinical Support: Support Radiographers and Medical Officers during complex imaging procedures and specialized diagnostic interventions.
- Patient Guidance: Provide clear and reassuring instructions to patients before, during, and after imaging procedures to ensure cooperation and safety.
Requirements & Qualifications
Candidates for this GL. 07 appointment must meet the following criteria:
- Academic/Professional: A Diploma or Certificate in X-Ray Technology or Radiographic Technology from a recognized health technology institution.
- Registration: Full registration with the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) as an X-Ray Technician.
- Licensing: Possession of a valid and Current Practicing License.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong foundational knowledge of radiographic procedures, anatomy, and radiation physics.
- Safety Proficiency: Deep understanding of radiation safety practices and the use of protective shielding.
- Communication: Good interpersonal and patient care skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary medical team.
- Experience: Relevant clinical experience in a hospital radiology department is highly desirable.
