Overview
The Katsina State Health Services Management Board (KTHSMB) is seeking distinguished medical professionals for the position of Medical Consultant. The Role
As a Medical Consultant, you will provide high-level clinical leadership and expert medical consultation within your area of specialty. This role demands a combination of advanced clinical practice, strategic hospital management, and a commitment to the professional development of the medical workforce in Katsina State.
Key Responsibilities
- Expert Consultation: Provide specialized medical consultation, diagnosis, and advanced treatment for complex clinical cases.
- Clinical Leadership: Oversee the clinical operations of your department, ensuring that healthcare delivery meets international best practices.
- Mentorship & Supervision: Lead, mentor, and supervise junior medical staff, residents, and interns, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Research & Development: Spearhead and participate in clinical research, audits, and health development projects to improve patient outcomes.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure strict adherence to national medical protocols, ethical standards, and patient safety guidelines.
- Policy Advisory: Act as a senior advisor to the Board and hospital management on medical equipment procurement, staffing, and clinical strategy.
- Emergency Management: Lead the medical response in critical emergencies and provide expert guidance on life-saving interventions.
Requirements & Qualifications
Candidates for this prestigious GL. 17 position must possess:
- Academic: MBBS/MBChB or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Specialization: A Postgraduate Fellowship (FMCP/FWACP/FRCP or equivalent) in a relevant medical specialty.
- Professional Registration: Full and valid registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
- Licensing: Possession of a valid and Current Practicing License.
- National Service: Evidence of a valid NYSC Discharge Certificate or a Certificate of Exemption.
- Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of post-registration clinical experience, with a significant portion spent at a senior specialist level.
- Competencies: Exceptional clinical judgment, leadership skills, and a strong background in medical education or research.
