Main Purpose

To provide nursing care, treatment, and follow-up of patients according to medical prescriptions, established protocols, and universal hygiene standards to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population.

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Care: Organize and carry out treatments according to medical prescriptions; assist during consultations and daily rounds; perform admission, surveillance, and follow-up of patients.
• Hygiene & Safety: Implement universal hygiene standards, bio-hazard prevention, and infection control; ensure high standards of hygiene in the working environment.
• Emergency & Triage: (For ER/OPD) Ensure triage in waiting areas, detect priority/acute cases, and provide first aid.
• Patient Support: Ensure patients are properly received; assist those with a lack of autonomy (feeding, hygiene, movement); participate in health education for patients and families.
• Pharmacy & Equipment: Participate in pharmacy control, inventory, and medical equipment maintenance; perform minor maintenance on biomedical tools.
• Reporting & Supervision: Maintain accurate patient files and statistics; provide written/oral handovers; supervise and train nurse-aids and nutritional assistants.
• Protection: Identify victims of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and refer them for medical treatment; maintain medical confidentiality at all times.

Requirements

• Education: * Essential: Recognized Nurse Degree or Diploma.
  • Desirable: Bachelor’s Science in Nursing.
• Licensing: Must possess a valid practicing license issued by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
• Experience: * Desirable: At least 2 years of previous experience; experience with other NGOs is an asset.
• Languages: Essential fluency in English and Hausa.
• Core Competencies: Results and quality orientation, teamwork, behavioral flexibility, commitment to MSF principles, and stress management.
