Overview
The Katsina State Health Services Management Board is expanding its diagnostic capabilities. We are seeking qualified and meticulous Medical Laboratory Scientists to join our laboratory departments across the state. This Grade Level 10 appointment is designed for professionals committed to providing accurate diagnostic data to support clinical decision-making and patient care.
The Role
As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will play a critical role in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases. You will be responsible for conducting complex chemical, biological, hematological, and microscopic examinations with the highest level of accuracy and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnostic Testing: Perform a wide range of laboratory tests and analyses, including biochemistry, microbiology, hematology, and histopathology.
- Specimen Management: Expertly collect, prepare, and examine biological specimens while ensuring strict adherence to safety and contamination protocols.
- Equipment Oversight: Operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on sophisticated laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliable results.
- Accuracy & Reporting: Validate and report laboratory findings accurately and promptly to medical officers, ensuring data integrity for patient management.
- Quality Control: Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality assurance measures within the laboratory environment.
- Inventory Management: Monitor laboratory supplies and reagents to ensure uninterrupted diagnostic services.
Requirements & Qualifications
Candidates applying for this GL. 10 position must meet the following criteria:
- Academic: Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (B.MLS) from a recognized and accredited institution.
- Professional Registration: Full registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
- Licensing: Possession of a valid and Current Practicing License.
- National Service: Evidence of completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or a valid Certificate of Exemption.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in modern laboratory techniques and a strong understanding of laboratory safety standards.
- Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team.
